Big Bud Information
The Big Bud 16-V 747 was built in 1977 in Havre, Montana. The tractor measures 27 ft long, 20 ft wide and 14 ft tall. Tires for this beast were custom made and are 8 ft tall. The fuel tank has a capacity of 1,000 gallons. Fully loaded it can weigh more than 50 tons. This is why it's referred to as "The Worlds Largest Farm Tractor".
It was originally intended to be used on a cotton farm owned by the Rossi Brothers in Bakersfield, California. It did their deep ripping for 11 years before it was sold to Willowbrook Farms in Indlantic, Florida. They too utilized the enormous tractor for deep ripping before they let it rest til 1997. That year the Williams Brothers of Big Sandy, Montana purchased Big Bud for the cultivation of their fields. The tractor was able to accomplish the feat at more than one acre per minute with the assistance of an 80 row cultivator, while traveling up to 8 mph.
